Constitution approved

What most people expected, happened: the new constitution of the Republic of Flanders has been approved by a very wide margin - almost 94%. Another commonly expected thing happened: Temporary Head of State Erwin Van Horenbeeck has announced his intention to run for president on the social-democratic ticket. Van Horenbeeck is a man of long experience in Flemish politics, having been an MP between 1999 and the end of the First Republic as well as its last Chancellor. The presidential race will probably be between him and the conservative Evert De Smet.
The Social-Democrats also announced their candidates for Parliament. Heading the list will be Charly, with Vice-Head of State Wolfgang Thoma on second place.
